Export comments, replies, and associated images
Export members' contributions in reply to a post, for analysis outside of the application.
- Open the post.

To export comments and replies, click the options menu and select
Export Comments.
Tip: You can also export comments and replies from the Manage Content page. Click the options menu to the right of the post listing, and select Export Comments.
Follow your web browser's prompts to download and open the CSV file.
The CSV file contains the following columns:
Column Description memberID
The unique member ID of the commenter. role
The user role of the commenter. date
The date on which the comment or reply was created. authorsUsername
The user name of the commenter as it appears in the member hub. postTitle
The title of the top-level post that the comments, replies, and uploaded images are in response to. postURL
The unique URL of the post. Copy and paste this value into a web browser to view the post, along with all of its comments and replies in context. postID
The unique ID of the original post. This value is useful if you have multiple exports for multiple posts, and you need to determine which post the comments and replies are about. postType
comment
: A comment on the top-level post.reply
: A reply to a comment.
commentID
The comment or reply's unique ID. parentID
The unique ID of a comment, and all the threaded replies to that comment. You can filter and sort on this value to view threaded comments and replies together. commentBody
The content of the comment or reply. [image]
appears wherever an image appears in the comment body.Note:The CSV file is in UTF-8 format. This may cause display issues with special characters if you open the file directly in Excel. Instead, you must import the file and set the format to UTF-8.
- In Excel, on the Data ribbon, click Get Data > From File > From Text/CSV.
- In the Import Data dialog, select the CSV file, and click Import.
- From the File Origin menu, select 65001: Unicode (UTF-8) and click Load.

To export images, click the options menu and select
Export Images.
Tip: You can also export images from the Manage Content page. Click the options menu to the right of the post listing, and select Export Images.
Follow your web browser's prompts to download and open the ZIP file.
To match the images to the corresponding comments, look at the image file names in the ZIP file, and the
commentID
values in the CSV file.If a comment contains two images,

and-2
are appended to the images' file names.
