The Languages tab

Manage your translations on the Languages tab.

On this tab:
  • Set up translations for your survey.
  • Set the default survey language.
  • Set and check the status of survey translations.
The Languages tab contains the following columns:
  • Language: Displays all languages that are enabled on a community. Languages are displayed even if they are not being used in that survey.
  • Status: Displays one of three statuses for each language:
    • Disabled: Language is not being used in the survey.

Disabled languages are not possible authoring languages, are not included in survey validation, and your survey cannot be translated into them.

    • In Progress: Language is used in the survey and is in the process of being translated.

In Progress languages appear in the Authoring Workspace but are not included in survey validation. This allows you to deploy the survey in completed languages while other languages are still in progress.

    • Completed, ready for validation: Translations for this language are complete.

Completed languages appear in the Authoring Workspace and are included in survey validation. A survey will not successfully validate if a completed language is missing translations.

  • Default: Indicates the current default survey language and allows you to change the default survey language.
  • Progress: Displays the number of questions in your survey that have been translated from the default survey language, summarizing the progress of your translations. Community calculates the count of questions and translations the following way:
The translation validation count is based on the default survey language. Community counts a translation missing if a question part (question text, instruction text, or answer text) has default language text but no corresponding translation text. In every other scenario, Community counts the question and translation as complete:
Question parts Default survey language Translation Progress
Question text, Instruction text, and Answer text Has Text Has Text 1/1 completed
Question text, Instruction text, or Answer text Has Text Blank 0/1 missing
Question text, Instruction text, or Answer text Blank Blank 1/1 completed
Question text, Instruction text, or Answer text Blank Has Text 1/1 completed
  • Translation Portal: Displays the Translation Portal link for languages that are set to In Progress or Completed, ready for validation. To open the translation portal, click this link.
