Create a Scale Slider question

Ask participants satisfaction and scale questions in a slider format.

A Scale Slider question must have at least one scale and slider and scalar values. Scale labels, off-scale columns, and row labels are optional items that you can add to your question if appropriate.
  1. In Power Survey Authoring, click the Questionnaire tab.
  2. On the Authoring Navigation Bar, hover over Question > Single Choice Grid, and then click Scale Slider Grid.
  3. Type a name for the question, and then click OK.

  4. Add the question text.
    1. Click the Question field, and then type the question text.
      For information on formatting the text and adding files such as images, see Editing toolbar.
    2. Click Update.
    Note:
    • The application automatically removes any Javascript that you add to question text, instruction text, or content boxes.
  5. In the Scale section, add the scalar values.
    1. In the first scalar value, type the value, select or clear the Show Scalar Value check box, and type the Scale Label.
      Note: The Scale Label is optional. You cannot use a backslash (\) or quotation marks (") in the scale label.
    2. To add another scalar value, do one of the following:
      • To add one scalar value, click Add Scalar Value, and then type the value and label.
      • To add multiple scalar values, click Scalar Values, and then type each value on a separate line.

        You can type the labels in the Scale Label field.

  6. Optional: In the Off-Scale Columns section, add an off-scale column.
    1. Click Add Column.
    2. In the Column Label field of the first column, type the column label.
    3. To add another off-scale column, do one of the following.
      • To add one off-scale column, click Add Column, and then type the column label.
      • To add multiple columns, click Columns, and then type each column on a separate line.

        Press Ctrl + V to paste the column text from a text editor such as Notepad.

      Note: You can add a maximum of three off-scale columns.
  7. In the Rows section, add the rows.
    1. In the Answer Text field of the first row, type the answer text.
    2. To add another row, do one of the following:
      • To add one row, click Add Row, and then type the answer text.
      • To add multiple rows, click Rows, and then select a predefined set, or type each answer text on a separate line.

        Press Ctrl + V to paste the row text from a text editor such as Notepad.

        Note: After a survey contains live data, you cannot delete or batch edit answers.
  8. Optional: Add an image to the row.
    Note: You cannot enlarge an image in a Slider Scale question. Participants will see an image that is scaled to within 135 x 110 pixels.
    1. Click the Select image button.
    2. Optional: To create an image-only answer, select the Image Only Answer check box.
      Note: If you add an image to a question or answer option without adding alt text in the Question or Answer text fields, the titles for corresponding questions, rows, or columns will be blank in your report.
  9. In the Properties section, set the question properties.

  10. Click Save.
