Video Feedback response handling

Learn more about what happens after the video response is submitted.

After a completed Video Feedback response is submitted, it takes up to 4 hours for the video to be approved for inclusion in the Video Feedback Report. During the approval process, videos are reviewed for quality according to the following standards:

  • The participant is making a valid attempt to answer the question being asked.
  • The participant may speak for less than 15 seconds, including one-word answers, as long as they are answering the question.
  • The participant does not have to be in the shot fully (they can either film themselves or film the product).
  • The response should not contain any inappropriate language.

After a video is flagged as approved, it is submitted for machine transcription, which may take another 30 minutes. Responses do not appear in the Video Feedback Report until approval and machine transcription are complete. Where video responses are machine-transcribed, the transcriptions are up to 99% accurate with good audio and clear speech.

Tip: Unapproved videos are not included in the analysis, but you can still view them. To do this, in the Video Feedback Report, set a filter condition for Declined is True.
Important:
  • When you are previewing and testing the Video Feedback question, you must say "This is a test response" explicitly in English. Otherwise, the test video undergoes the response handling process and is submitted for approval and transcribed, and will count towards your video usage. If you say "This is a test response" in the recording, the test video response (a response created through the survey preview or a test activity link) does not undergo the approval process, and is not counted towards the overall video usage.
  • Responses are rounded up to the closest minute. Minutes are also charged as soon as the first second of the next minute accrues. This means that a 30-second recording is charged as one minute, and a 61-second recording is charged as 2 minutes.

What happens to non-English language responses?

The survey language setting determines the language used in the responding interface. For example, if the survey language is set to Spanish, all of the controls in the responding interface will appear in Spanish. Any responses recorded in a language other than English are translated to English. In the Video Feedback Report, all text analysis and theme analysis is done in English. However, you can toggle between the English and non-English versions of the transcriptions.
