Duplicate a survey question, page element, or action

Copy a survey object, such as a question, survey action, or page element, and reuse it in a different part of your survey.

For more information about survey objects, see Survey Builder.

The following elements can be duplicated:

  • Questions
  • Groups
  • Pages
  • End Survey actions
  • Set Value actions
  • Survey Logic

When you duplicate a survey element, all aspects of it are copied except Notes in questions.

Duplicate a survey element by doing one of the following:

  • In the Table of Contents, right-click the question and select Duplicate.
  • In the Edit Pane, click Duplicate.
Result: The duplicate survey object appears in the Table of Contents as yourSurveyObjectName (copy).

It is highly recommended that you test your survey after editing a duplicated element to ensure it works as you expect.

While all settings in a copy should be double-checked, there are a few items that are especially important:

  • The copy's position in the survey

By default, the copy is placed directly after the original.

  • Survey logic

Make sure you have the correct logic and questions selected for the new copy. By default, the rules reference questions in the original survey item, not the duplicated item.

  • Participant messages

In End Survey actions, make sure that you edit the message content as appropriate.
