Scale Slider

The Scale Slider question provides a way to present scale questions in a slider format, making satisfaction and scale questions engaging for your participants.

Presenting this type of question as a scale also makes the question's intention clearer for participants, leading to more accurate answers. The Scale Slider question is not a continuous scale on which participants can place the slider anywhere. The slider snaps to points along the scale which are marked with specific scalar values.

Note: In mobile surveys, this question type is displayed as a Grid question.

The image below shows the parts of a scale slider.

Definitions of scale slider parts:

  • Slider: the object that participants place on a specific point of the scale.
  • Scale: the area where the slider can be placed.
  • Scale Label: a text label used to describe points along the scale.
  • Scalar Value: a numeric value assigned to each point along the scale where participants may place the slider.
  • Row Label: a text label used to describe each scale.
  • Off-Scale Column: a column that is not part of the scale. It is used for options such as "Don't Know" and "Not Applicable".

You can create a scale slider question with up to 100 scale rows each with up to 25 scale values.

Note: If you create a Scale Slider question with only one row and that row does not have a label, the corresponding title for the row will be blank in your report.
