Single Choice questions
Single Choice questions ask participants to select one of two or more possible answers.
Single Choice questions offer the following display options:
- Buttons
- Slider
- Drop Down
Although these display options are different from the participant's perspective, they appear as Single Choice questions in reporting, and their data is treated identically.
Single Choice Buttons
Single Choice Buttons questions list your answers, and participants select only one of the answer options.
This is the base display option for Single Choice questions and is available to mobile and desktop participants.
Use Single Choice Buttons to pose closed-ended questions with mutually exclusive answers.

Single Choice Slider
Single Choice Slider questions place your answer options on a scale, and participants must move a slider along the scale until they reach their answer.
With the Single Choice Slider, you can:
- Include off-scale answers
- Show automatically generated values for your scale
This display for Single Choice questions is available to desktop participants only; mobile participants who access a Single Choice Slider will see the Buttons display. Use the Slider display when asking participants to rate an item or statement on a numbered scale. Your answer text will ensure participants understand the meaning of the scale numbers.
If you create a question with more than five on-scale answer options, only the rightmost and leftmost answer text (the endpoints) will appear to participants. Other answer text will be hidden unless the scale has an odd number of answers, in which case the midpoint answer text will also be shown.

Single Choice Drop Down
Single Choice Drop Down questions place your answer options in a list, and participants select one of the answer options.
Use a Single Choice Drop Down question if you have a lot of answer options that would occupy too much screen space in a Single Choice Buttons question.
