Create a new recruitment link

Generate a recruitment link that can be used on a website, social media, or in print media. People who use the recruitment link will start on the member sign up page, and proceed to the recruitment survey.

Prerequisites:

Ensure you have set up your member sign up page. For more information, see Edit the sign up/sign in pages.

Note: If you have multiple communities, be aware that a member can only belong to or try joining one community at a time. If pending or active members of one community try to join another community, they will be redirected to the correct portal.
  1. Open a recruitment survey and click the Distribute tab.
  2. Click Links > New Link.
Each survey link has a test and live version. You can also create a custom version.
    Link Description
Test Link Use test links to preview your survey before the live link is open to participants. You can use the test survey link yourself or share it with collaborators.
Live Link Use Live Links when you distribute the survey.
Note: Only Admins, and Power Users that have the Can schedule distributions permission enabled for their user account, can generate live links. Otherwise, the Generate Live Link button is disabled.
Custom Link Use Custom Links to:
    • Create shorter live links that look nicer and are easier to share.
    • Create meaningful links that reflect the nature of the survey.
    • Create links that reflect your brand.
  3. In the Create New Link dialog, type an internal name for the link.
  4. Select a community from the Assign to a Community list.
This step applies only if you have multiple communities.
  5. In the Member Facing Activity Name field, type the activity name participants will see.

The member-facing activity name is visible to any participants who use this recruitment link.

This field cannot be empty. If you do not provide a value, the application will use the last member-facing activity name that was provided in the same language. If this value does not exist, the application will use the internal activity name.

You can change the member-facing activity name at any time while the recruitment link is open. The updated member-facing activity name is visible to any participants who start the activity after the change is saved. However, participants who have already started the activity under the old name will still see the old name.

  6. Click Create.
  7. Append a member's identity variable to the recruitment link.
  8. Select the theme associated with the recruitment link.
    Note:
    • The selected theme is only visible to participants who use this link to complete the activity. The same activity can have multiple links, each one with a different theme.
    • The selected theme does not affect the appearance of the portal (which uses the active community theme).
    1. Click Back.
    2. Select the theme from the Theme menu.
By default, the theme is set to the active community theme.
    3. Optional: To see what the recruitment survey looks like with the selected theme, click Links > Test Link > Preview Link .
Result: The test recruitment link opens in a new browser tab and displays the selected theme.
  9. Optional: Get a test recruitment link.
  10. Optional: Get a live recruitment link.
  11. Optional: Get a custom recruitment link.
