Fix CSV file import errors

If your CSV file import contains errors or potential issues, the system generates a new CSV file that alerts you to these issues and lets you fix any error rows.

Note: Admins can perform this task. To perform this task as a Power User, you must have Can access sensitive data enabled.
  1. Import a CSV file that contains members or profile variables.
Result: The system imports the valid rows. If your CSV file contains errors, a message appears in the Completed Import list indicating the number of members that were not imported due to data validation problems.
  2. Download the new CSV file by doing one of the following:
    • In the Completed Imports list, click the Errors and Alerts link beside your import.
    • In the notification center at the top right of the page, click Download report.
Note: If the error is not shown in the notification center, please check the list below for solutions or missing requirements:
      • The CSV follows the requirements in CSV file requirements.
      • See if there are any duplicate emails since duplicate emails result in zero errors being shown.
      • Upload one record to narrow down the issue. If one record can be uploaded, then it is highly possibility that one of the record in the report is causing the CSV to fail. Increase the number of records until the error occurs again.
      • If the number of people has not been updated, the record may already contain the updated value.

Verify members by searching for a member and member details by viewing or managing member details.

  3. Follow your web browser's prompts to download a copy of the CSV file that contains error rows only.
  4. Open the CSV file, and review the error messages in the ***ERRORS AND ALERTS*** column.
  5. Fix the errors directly in the CSV file, and then re-import it.
Result: The system updates fixed rows. If there are still errors, the system creates a new error CSV file.
