Choice question properties

Set the appearance and behavior of Single Choice or Multi Choice questions.

Answer order

You can automatically change the answer order in which participants see answers. You can either have the answer displayed in a different, random order each time the question is presented or you can rotate the answers each time the question is presented to a participant.

To randomize or rotate the answers, use the Answer order property. The Answer order property has three options:

  • As Authored: all participants see the answers in the order that they were created.
  • Randomize: each participant sees a random order of answers.
  • Rotate: each time the question is displayed to participants, the answer order is rotated.

Arrange answers and Number of rows/columns

Note: The Arrange answers question property is not supported for mobile surveys. Any changes you make to this question property are not rendered for mobile participants.

Use these two properties to display your answers in rows or columns. By default answers are displayed in a single column.

The Arrange answers property determines whether the answers are displayed in rows or columns.
Option Description
Horizontal Display answers in columns.
Vertical Display answers in rows.

The Number of rows/columns property determines the number of columns or rows you want your answers to be displayed in

The images below show how the Arrange answers and Number of rows/columns properties work together.

Sensitive data

This property will automatically purge data in an "other/specify" text field 90 days after the participant becomes inactive. After the data is purged, you cannot access it again.

Sensitive Data is available on request. For more information, see Purging sensitive data.

Note:
  • Only Admins can change this property.
  • When enabled, the Data Purge feature prevents "other/specify" answer data from being synched with Community Profile metrics. You will still see the answer label in the metrics and your reports, but not the data associated with it.

For more information, see Community profile.
