Create an Image Upload question

Ask participants to upload images from a mobile, tablet, or desktop device.

Image Upload questions work in desktop and mobile view. After the image is uploaded, participants have the option to preview and change the image before clicking Next.

Image file requirements:

Maximum file size
  • 60 MB (modern surveys)
  • 20 MB (classic surveys)
Supported formats .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png, .bmp
Note: Participants can upload a .tiff file, however, they will not be able to preview the image in Chrome or Firefox.

  1. From the Survey Builder Toolbox, under Questions do one of the following:
    • Drag the Image Upload question to the Table of Contents.
    • Click the Image Upload question.
  2. In the Table of Contents, click the Image Upload question.
    Result: The Edit Pane appears.
  3. Optional: Edit the Question name.

    Question names:

    • Should be unique.
    • Can contain symbols and all alphanumeric characters.
    • Are not displayed to participants.
  4. In the Question text field, enter the question text.
    Note: The recommended character limit is 2500.

    This option controls whether the application purges personally identifiable information collected through this question, for members who have become inactive. System variables such as FirstName, LastName, and email are flagged as sensitive data by default. For more information, see Sensitive data.

    Note: Admins can change this setting. To change this setting as a Power User or an Author, you must have Can access sensitive data enabled.
  7. Optional: To preview the question in desktop or mobile view, in the Edit Pane, click Preview.
    Result: A preview of your survey appears, starting with the selected question.
    Note: Preview in mobile view simulates the mobile experience. For best results, preview your question on a mobile device.
Tip: You can create a survey logic condition based on an Image Upload question by setting the operator to Has a value or Has no value. For more information, see Survey logic.
