Video Discussions User role limitations

The Video Discussion User role limits access to only specific functions of a Video Discussion project, based on additional permissions checkboxes. Assign this role to third-party or short-term users who are only moderating video discussions, without granting unnecessary access to other areas of the platform.

Note: This role is only available for Video Discussions customers.

Permissions

Video Discussions Users cannot access the platform Settings.

Video Discussions Users can only access Video Discussion projects within the Surveys app. They cannot access other apps.

The table below explains what Video Discussions Users can access with the permission checkboxes. If no additional permissions are granted, the user can join the video interview as a moderator, and set up, but not send, distributions.

Permission Has access to
Can create new Video Discussion projects

Allows users to create new Video Discussion activities from the Activities page.

Can schedule Video interviews and manage projects

Allows users to access the Video Discussion Overview page from the Set Up tab, where they can schedule and update interviews, manage interview materials, set up discussion content, access a personal meeting room, tag video insights, access recordings, and create highlight reels.

Can schedule distributions

Allows users to access the Distribute tab within the video discussion project and send interview invitations to participants.

Can access sensitive data
Allows users to work with personally identifiable information (PII). User can access the participants list on the Track Participation tab, and see the Select Participants tab when selecting a member filter for a distribution. For more information, see:
Can override community engagement rules

Allows users to override rules that exclude members from new invitations based on their recent invitations or survey participation. For more information, see Sample management.

Video Discussion Projects

Within a Video Discussion project, Video Discussions Users can:
  • Access Video Discussions projects.
  • Create new Video Discussion projects and choose access settings if the Can create new Video Discussion projects permission is enabled.
  • Access the Overview page from the Set Up tab if the Can schedule Video interviews and manage projects permission is enabled, where they can:
    • Schedule interviews
    • Manage projects
    • Upload supporting documents and stimuli
    • Access a personal meeting room
    • Join the interview as a moderator or observer
    • Access interview recordings
    • View interview insights
    • Create a highlight reel
  • Access the Distributions tab and set up invitations for interview distributions.
  • Send invitations for interview distributions if the Can schedule distributions permission is enabled.
  • Join the video interview as a moderator from the Track Participation tab.

Video Discussions Users cannot:

  • Access the Metrics and Display Options tabs.
  • See other activity types, like Surveys, Forums or External Activities.
