Create questions
Ask your members a series of questions to collect quantitative data.
- Open the Surveys app, and then click the survey name.

On the
Build page, click
Build Power Survey (if this is a new survey)
or
Edit (if you are editing an existing
survey).
Result: Power Survey Authoring opens in a new tab.

To create a question:
- Click the Questionnaire tab.

On the
Authoring Navigation Bar, hover over
Question, and then select the question
type.
Note: For more information about the question types and their properties, see Question types.

Type a name for the question, and then click
OK.
For guidelines on question names, see Question names.Result: The new question appears in the Question tree on the left.

Click the
Question field, and then do one of the
following.
- Type the text.
- Click HTML, and then type the HTML code.
Tip: In the Question Editor, you can format the text and add files. For more information, see Editing toolbar. - Optional:
To change the default respondent instructions, click the text
box under the
Question field, and then edit the text.
You can also enter the text in HTML mode.Note: If you add JavaScript, GlobalEventHandlers. and CSS in the HTML mode of the text editor, errors will result. For more information, see, HTML editor: Restricted elements.
- Click Update.
- Add answers one at a time, or add answers in a batch.
- Optional: Add images to the question.
- Click Save.
- To add another question, repeat step 3.
- Optional:
Add a library to the questionnaire.

On the
Authoring Navigation Bar, click
Library.
Result: The Library Browser opens on the right.
- To expand a list, click the Expand button beside it.
- When you locate a library that you want to add, click and drag the library into the questionnaire on the left.

On the
Authoring Navigation Bar, click
Library.

On the
Authoring Navigation Bar, click
Validate to check the survey for errors.
Note: You must validate your survey before you can publish your survey in Community.
- Preview the questionnaire.
Once you have added questions and validated your survey, navigate back to the Community tab and publish your survey. For more information see, Publish a power survey.
