AI Assistant for Reporting (EAP)

The AI Assistant for Reporting is a new tool designed to streamline your data analysis within modern reports.

Note: This feature is currently only available to early access program (EAP) customers. It will be available to all customers in the July 2025 release. For information on joining the EAP, contact your Customer Success Manager.

The AI Assistant uses generative AI to help you create visualizations and text narratives, identify trends, and gain deeper insights from your customer data.

The AI Assistant is designed to provide users with efficient and intelligent access to report data within the Alida platform. Its primary purpose is to:

  • Facilitate quick and accurate retrieval of information from reports.
  • Offer data analysis and visualization capabilities.
  • Assist users in understanding and interpreting report data.
  • Provide a conversational interface for interacting with complex datasets.

This generative AI tool aims to enhance user productivity by simplifying data exploration and offering insights that might otherwise require complex and time consuming manual analysis.

Overview of capabilities

The AI Assistant includes a range of capabilities to support you in your data analysis tasks:

  • Data retrieval: Access to current report data, including the ability to fetch specific filtered results for a report or the entire dataset.
  • Data analysis:
    • Able to interpret crosstab data with banners, filters, significance testing, and weighting applied.
    • Able to interpret TURF analysis data.
    • Able to access AI summaries and sentiment analysis overviews.
  • Data visualization:
    • Creation of various chart types (e.g., bar, line, pie, scatter) to represent data visually.
    • Enables customization of chart elements such as titles, axes, and legends for clarity.
  • Natural language processing:
    • Ability to understand and respond to user queries in natural language.
    • Interpretation of user intent to provide relevant information or perform appropriate actions.
  • Contextual awareness:
    • Maintaining context within a conversation to provide coherent and relevant responses.
    • Understanding of the current report context and its limitations.
  • Guidance and support:
    • Offers explanations and insights based on the data.
    • Provides links to relevant Webhelp documentation for further information on specific features.

Limitations

While the AI Assistant is a powerful tool for data exploration and analysis, it's important to note that it operates within certain limitations, such as being confined to the current report's data and unable to modify or access raw data. These limitations are designed to ensure data integrity and security within the Alida platform.

The AI Assistant is designed to work with one report at a time, focusing on the currently opened report. This means:

  • All data queries and analyses are performed within the context of the active report.
  • The assistant cannot compare or contrast data across multiple reports simultaneously.
  • You must switch reports manually if you need information from a different report.

Because the AI Assistant has a single-report focus, it has the following limitations:

  • It cannot perform cross-report analysis or data aggregation.
  • Historical data or trends across multiple reports are not accessible in a single interaction.
  • Users needing information from multiple reports must query each report separately.

To protect data privacy and maintain the integrity of aggregated results, the AI Assistant has restricted access to certain types of raw data. Specifically:

  • Open-ended responses: The assistant cannot access or display individual open-ended responses from survey participants.
  • Short Answer and Long Answer questions: Detailed text responses are not available for direct querying or analysis.
  • NPS (Net Promoter Score) feedback: While overall NPS scores may be available, individual feedback comments are not accessible.

It's important to note that while the AI Assistant cannot access this raw data, it can still work with aggregated results, sentiment analyses, and AI summaries that are based on these responses, as long as the crosstabs summarizing this information are included in the report with the relevant features enabled. For example, to have the AI Assistant analyze sentiment for NPS data, you need to add the NPS question as a crosstab and enable the Sentiment Analysis tab for the crosstab.
