Survey actions

Use Survey Actions to mark endpoints in your survey, group a series of related questions, and create survey logic conditions.

End Survey

Mark an endpoint in your survey, decide where participants are taken when they leave, and determine their statuses in your reports.

You can add an End Survey action anywhere in your survey, and when a participant reaches one, you can set the action to:

  • Complete
  • Disqualified
  • Over Quota

Once you add an endpoint to your survey, you can control which participants trigger it using the condition builder in the Survey Logic action. You can also determine your participants' statuses in your reports by selecting the Reason to end survey.

For more information, see End Survey action.

Tip: To optimize accessibility, include an End Survey action with a message that notifies participants they have completed the survey. This gives participants on screen readers a clear verbal cue that they have reached the end.

Groups

Place a series of questions in a group and manage their survey logic together. For longer surveys, place a subset of questions inside a nested group to create multiple layers of organization. For more information, see Create a group in your survey.

Survey Logic

Decide which participants will see a question or determine an endpoint based on a participants' previous answers, respondent variables, or profile variables. You can also use the Survey Logic action to create distinct branches in your survey targeted to specific participants, see Survey logic.

Profile

Link a survey question to a profile variable that has the same data type. When participants answer the survey question, their profile variable values are updated to the Profile action's answer value. For more information, see Profile action.

Set Value

Create conditions to define responses in a Choice question so you can easily interpret your data. Use a Set Value action to combine answers from multiple questions, or assign categories to answers in open-ended numeric questions in your reports. For more information, see Set Value.
